For a locally owned Italian bistro that specializes in Neapolitan pizzas and pastas made from scratch, aRoma in Austin is an amazing find. If you love great Italian food, dishes created with passion and an authentic touch, and an atmosphere that is comfortable and classic, here’s what you need to know about aRoma:

Perfect Pasta

There are few things more indulgent in this life than treating yourself to a heaping bowl of homemade pasta, and at aRoma, you can do just that. For flavors that make you purse your lips in satisfaction and continue eating even when you’re too full, we recommend the gnocchi, which is made from potatoes and is served with Italian sausage, roasted bell peppers, fennel, pine nuts, and basil for $14. Our other favorite pasta dish is the linguine, which is made with squid ink, tomatoes, basil, capers, and kalamata olives.

Local Venue, Local Ingredients

Another thing we love about aRoma is that it’s made a serious effort to go local in every sense of the phrase. Not only is their food made from locally sourced ingredients, but the majority of décor throughout the restaurant comes from local artists and businesses, too.

The Pizza

The pizza here is made from true Neapolitan dough, baked in a wood fire oven, and is absolutely amazing—maybe the best pizza you’ve ever had. Choose from anything as basic as the marinara with tomato sauce, garlic, and basil or as complex and flavorful as the il maiale intero, which is a pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, pancetta, prosciutto, sausage, and capocollo. You can also add any of your own toppings of choice, including peppers, mushrooms, spinach, anchovies, farm fresh eggs, truffle oil, prosciutto, and more.

More Menu Selections

In addition to pizza and pasta, you’ll also find fresh salads—like the delicious caprese or roasted beet and goat cheese salad—and some amazing dishes from “the sea and earth.” Favorites are the red wine braised short ribs with mascarpone potatoes and the fisherman’s seafood soup in a tomato saffron broth.

The Wine List

Italian food isn’t complete without wine, and you won’t be disappointed by the wine selection at aRoma. Whether you want a bottle or a glass, the prices are fair and the options are endless. If you’re not sure what to choose, ask your waiter or waitress to make a suggestion—you’ll probably be thrilled by their proposal.

Dog Friendly Patio

In addition to having a patio that’s quaint and comfortable, animal lovers are thrilled by the fact that the patio is dog friendly. If you need a place to sit for lunch, sip on a cup of coffee, or indulge in a filling dinner with your pup by your side, aRoma is perfect. Additionally, kids are also welcome here, despite the trendy atmosphere.
