The East Side Show Room is a hidden gem of a place in one of the more historic buildings on the east side of Austin’s downtown. Enter through the thick velvet curtain of the East Side Showroom into the small dimly lit lounge, decorated thoroughly with romantic colors, antique furnishings, and an Industrial Revolution-style ensemble. This tiny space gets crowded quick, so make a reservation or plan to sit on the back patio, which is pleasantly shaded and trimmed with greenery.

ESSR as it’s also called, is known for exquisite food and drink. The drinks at East Side Showroom are carefully crafted and served in a variety of styles – The Pimm’s Cup (made with Pimm’s no.1, gin, lemon, ginger and cucumber) and the Leather Sombrero (made with mezcal, amaro, lime, and sugar cane syrup) are examples of the fine cocktails at ESSR. Food is served into the late evening so that you can indulge your palate with the small plates and entrées that are offered – like cheese plates and oysters, the Grilled Yellow Edge Grouper, and the Beef Heart Tartare.

To top it off this little lounge is often music-filled with live, old-fashioned singing and sounds; whatever the music is it’s sure to add a one-of-a-kind soundtrack to your experience at this little hodgepodge of a place.
