What’s in a Name

Roaring Fork is a unique restaurant in Austin as the food at this restaurant is cooked using an open fire, wood fire rotisserie, or wood oven roasting–hence the name, referring to the roaring flame of a fire. As such, every dish prepared here has a distinctive flavor that sets it apart from food at other Austin restaurants.

Wonderful Downtown Location

If the location of a restaurant matters to you, then you’ll love Roaring Fork’s central spot in downtown Austin. Perfect for lunch or dinner, Roaring Fork is easy to find, and a prime location for night time fun and the excitement that a city can provide.

Great Menu Options

To start off your meal, you should absolutely order the lamb chop fondue, which is a favorite menu item here. The fondue is a white wine fondue that’s accompanied by pecan bread and roasted squash, and is the perfect way to begin a meal. Another favorite starter is the Medjool date salad, which also features arugula, goat cheese, candied walnuts, and fig smear. If you’re a meat eater, try the double-cut pork chops for your main dish. The chops are wood grilled, and served with acorn squash puree, poblano chutney, and maple-grain mustard glaze.

Succulent Seafood Selections

If you prefer seafood to steak, you won’t be let down by the great seafood options here. The blackened redfish with whole grain pilaf, smoked tomatoes, and chipotle tabasco lemon butter is pure heaven, and the seared scallops with white bean puree, bacon lards, greens, truffle oil, and black sea salt are prepared perfectly. There is always a market fresh fish of the day option that’s offered at Roaring Fork as well.

Do Do Dessert

You should absolutely get a dessert at Roaring Fork, even if you’re a person who typically turns down sweets. The seasonal fruit pie is refreshing and sweet; the huckleberry cheesecake is rich and filling; the flour-less chocolate torte is perfect for those who are watching their gluten intake; and the Mexican vanilla bean creme brûlée is perfectly divine.

Great for Dates

Roaring Fork is the perfect place to take a date for many reasons. First of all, as mentioned before, it’s central location makes it the perfect place to transition to a different establishment for an after dinner drink, and is right in the heart of downtown. Another reason it’s great are the prices–while more expensive than your typical restaurant, it’s not incredibly unreasonable–ideal for a nice date with someone you care about. And finally, the atmosphere is very romantic and upscale, while still very relaxed and comfortable. For example, you are welcome to just wear jeans here, although you might see some people in slightly fancier garb.

The restaurant isn’t suitable for kids, has valet parking, and there’s a full bar. The downside? There’s not outdoor seating, but the inside is quite lovely…
