While Latin American food often get’s wrapped up in the same category as Mexican food, it’s entirely different despite sharing a few key ingredients. Native to the Americas are the fruits and vegetables such as guava, avocados, peppers, corn, tomatoes, potatoes, papayas, and pineapple, and all of them can be found in Latin cooking. For an experience that rivals what you might experience in Latin America itself, head to Americas restaurant for some authentic cooking inspired by the world-renowned chefs, Michael and David Cordua.

Del Mar

In Spanish, the words “del mar” mean “from the sea.” At Americas restaurant, the options on the Del Mar section of the menu are absolutely amazing, and may leave you wondering if this restaurant should be relabeled as a seafood restaurant rather than a Latin one. For lunch, try the seared Ahi tuna with cilantro broth, goat cheese, and a citrus salad; or opt for the wild Scottish salmon, which is served with mixed ceviche, grape tomatoes, avocado, and habanero beurre blanc. For dinner, the sea bass is one of the most popular menu items.

Go for Brunch

In addition to the amazing lunch and dinner options you’ll find at Americas, there’s also a delectable weekend brunch buffet served from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Sip on a Bloody Mary, glass of sangria, mojito, or mimosa while indulging in some delicious Latin American breakfast and lunch dishes.

Don’t Miss: Paella

Paella is one of the most amazing foods in the world, and while typically considered a Spanish dish, this Latin American restaurant makes a pretty comparable version. The arroz mariscado paella features a grilled market catch, tempura lobster tail, scallops, shrimp, and calamari all served over saffron chorizo rice. If seafood isn’t your thing, try the brochetas asadas, or beef tenderloin and grilled chicken skewers with achiote shrimp over house made beef chorizo Caribbean rice.

Small Portions, Steep Prices

The biggest complaint that people have about this restaurant is the fact that the prices are pretty high despite the relatively small portions that are given. A six-ounce steak, for example, is priced at $29, as is the least expensive paella dish. Even the desserts are $9, although the delirio de chocolate (chocolate truffle cake, hazelnut chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache, and chocolate meringue) may be worth it.

Order from the Bar

If you do end up going to Americas, ordering a drink from the bar is definitely recommended. The Pisco sour is raved about at this restaurant.

The Place for Romance

If you’re looking for a place for hot romantic date, Americas is it. While you may have to pay a fortune for the food, your date will be so impressed by the ambiance that you probably won’t be too worried about the check. Stone walls, soft candlelight, and dimmed mood lighting all contribute to the amorous atmosphere of Americas.
