For Indian food that satisfies the Western side of you, the Indian restaurant Indika in Houston is taste bud friendly, and designed for those who love a combination of foreign and comforting flavors.

Dine Anytime

While this restaurant certainly isn’t open at all hours of the day, it does offer brunch, lunch, and dinner options for those who want to give their senses some adventure (namely their mouths). The brunch menu offers some delicious traditional Indian dishes, and you won’t find an American eggs benedict here; rather, ready yourself for chicken liver masala, pistachio apricot and ginger spiced ghee naan, chicken and eggs vindaloo, or the saag smoked salmon waffle. If you’re brunching with those who prefer more typical brunch items, Indika also offers wild mushrooms and eggs, sausage and eggs, and an oatmeal that’s flavored with cloves, cinnamon, and black pepper.

If you’re going for lunch or dinner rather than brunch, the menu isn’t as extensive at it is at some other restaurants. It is, however, just as flavorful if not more so. If you have never tried Indiana chaat (boiled vegetables or fruit with spices), now’s the time to do so. Indika offers 5 different chaat options, all of which are delicious.

Worth the Cost

Indika’s entrée prices match the quality of food—that is to say, you’ll be getting your money’s worth, even when considering the menu is a bit on the expensive side. Entrées range from $15 to $40 on the dinner menu, while most things on the lunch menu can be found for under $20.

Happy Hour

While this restaurant is more expensive than most other Indian restaurants in Houston, its fair-priced happy hour counteracts whatever you’ll spend later for food. During happy hour at Indika’s, which takes place Tuesday through Friday from 5 to 7 PM, you’ll get half off of all beers, cocktails, and well drinks. And, the house wine is served for only $5. Plus, a variety of appetizers and plates are served during happy hour, all at a discounted price. The pork belly chaat ($7), is amazing, as are the potato goat cheesecakes ($5).

Call a Babysitter

While this restaurant will welcome supervised children, its website explicitly states that a children’s menu is not offered as Indika’s does not believe that children should have “separate food from adults.” Since some of the flavors here may be overwhelming for a young person’s palate, you may want to consider leaving your child(ren) at home before heading to this establishment

More than Food

If you love the food at Indika’s (or even if you don’t), there’s a good chance that you will have a fun time participating in the other part of this restaurant: the yoga studio. Located directly above Indika’s is a yoga studio, in which you are welcome to sign up for a class if your heart so desires.

Must Knows

Before planning a dinner at Indika’s, make sure you make a reservation and seating walk-ins can be tricky. Furthermore, remember that dressy attire is appreciated.

A few more facts: Indika is great for those who love Indian food, like American dishes with a twist, or are vegetarians.
