Good, Modern, Mexican

If you’re into Mexican food, this is a great place to check out in Austin.  Licha’s Cantina specializes in street style food and small plates that invoke the flavors of Mexico City.  It’s a fairly new restaurant, but it’s already proven that it can successfully pull of a unique take on Mexican food that people are excited about.  So run, don’t walk, or there won’t be any tables left because this place is becoming quite popular.

Can You Believe It – ‘Happy Hour’ till 7pm!

You don’t have to rush out after work to make it to ‘happy hour’ because they have a casual cantina style on the hours so you’ll be able to enjoy the great prices on food and drinks anywhere from 4 to 7pm.  Did we mention that the drinks are delicious? Not only do you get fresh squeezed cocktails with exceptional taste, you also get it in a beautiful presentation.

Hip Ambiance

This is the epitome of cool and cozy for a cantina. It’s low-lit and the dining area is a bit small, but there’s an outdoor patio to enjoy as well.  You can drop by basically any time and enjoy this nice atmosphere with its hint of casual.  No need to dress up and jeans will do just fine. There’s great decor and a cool ambiance to the place, maybe even a bit hipster.

Got Music? Check.

No modern, hipster ambient would be complete without music.  They regularly have live music acts, though unfortunately there have been no appearances by that cantina band from the original Star Wars.

Won’t Break Your Wallet

This isn’t the bottom of the barrel, cheap Mexican food so don’t expect to get away paying nothing, but it is very affordable.  Happy hour prices, especially, are great and you can have a drink and eat something for around ten dollars.  Definitely a unique combination of quality Mexican food that is on point with the price.

A Place to Comeback To

Everyone needs a go to restaurant and because this is a place that’s tasty, affordable, hip, and casual, Licha’s Cantina will probably become that after you’ve eaten there a few times.  Maybe it’s the magnetic atmosphere or the superb flavors that draws people in.  Whatever the case, you’ll soon dread Sundays and Mondays when the restaurant is closed.  But don’t worry you’ll have plenty of time to try everything on the menu like the tlacoyo with shrimp and mole or perhaps a comote or even just tacos.

Ultra Friendly Service

Lincha’s Cantina’s great flavors profiles filled with love and care is mirrored by the type of service you get here.  All the waiters are super friendly and ready to help, almost like you’ve been friends for years.  It’s warm and friendly

And Don’t Forget Dessert!

Ok, it’s always a splurge when you start digging into the desserts, but this place is without a doubt worth it.  A traditional tres leches is a bit small for the steepish price, but it also oozes with milky goodness when it hits your mouth.  Really that’s the perfect end to any dining experience.  Once you’ve come back a few times and want to further explore the dessert menu, the choco pot de creme is ridiculously good and who can say ‘no’ to that really.
