Texas is famous for its barbecue, and no one does barbecue better than San Antonio. At the Big Bib, one of locals’ favorite places in the city, you’ll find all the traditional barbecue favorites at a great price.

How It’s Made

The barbecue here is slow cooked, and made exactly as barbecue in Texas should be. The BBQ is slow roasted over mesquite or oak wood, giving it some of the most amazing flavor you can find in meat. Plus, the meat is rubbed with the restaurant’s special blends of herbs and spices, creating a unique and wonderful taste that will keep you coming back time and time again.

Big Bib Big Menu

The menu at the Big Bib is great, offering plenty of options to satisfy any BBQ craving. You can order meat by the pound, as a family platter, on a sandwich, as a plate, or even get a sample platter with a 1/4 pound of a bunch of different types of meat. The menu also includes some great dessert options, awesome sides, Weekend Specials, and basic beverages.

Restaurant Favorites

If you like barbecue, there are some really great options that you shouldn’t miss out on here. For example, try the baby back ribs, the brisket, or pulled pork if you want some really succulent and authentic flavors. The chicken wings are also a top choice. If you’re dining with a group or your family, try one of the family platters, like the the Big Bib platter which comes with a pound of brisket, one pound sausage, one pound of turkey, one pound of pulled pork, two leg quarters, and two sides of choice. Side choices are cole slaw, green beens, sweet potato casserole, baked potato casserole, pinto beans, chili beans, potato salad, and Big Bib sauce. Prices are fabulous, and a whole pound of brisket will cost you just $8.99, putting this at one of the cheapest BBQ places in the city.

The Small Side of Big Bib

Despite its name and big flavor, Big Bib is actually housed in a fairly small establishment which looks kind of like a dive restaurant or hole-in-the-wall type of place. There are only a few tables, you order at the counter, and the ambiance and decor is by no means beautiful. However, if you don’t care about the look of where you’re eating, then the flavor of the meat should be enough to convince you to go here. Oh, there is a little outdoor seating area, if you prefer sitting outdoors. Although, again, the view isn’t much.

Do Take Out or Catering

Long before it became a food place with a restaurant, the Big Bib was a catering establishment alone. As such, they know all about how to please a large group of guests when it comes to good food. For your next birthday party, business lunch, fundraiser, or even wedding, why not get creative and try BBQ catering? Or, if you’re in a rush and don’t have time to dine in, they have take out options as well.
