If you like seafood, particularly oysters, then you’ll love Perla’s Seafood and Oyster Bar, which is located on South Congress Avenue in Austin.

Great Prices During Happy Hour

During the happy hour here, which is Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM, you’ll find oysters that are 50 cents off, and 2$ off all beverages—a pretty great deal for 5 days a week!

Best Seafood in Austin

This is one of the best seafood restaurants in Austin, hands down. The seafood is all incredibly fresh, and you can order anything from halibut cheeks to lobster. The flounder is also amazing, and of course, the oysters are the main reason to go here!

Favorite Dishes

It probably won’t come as a surprise that first on our list of favorite dishes at Perla’s is market seafood. The Atlantic swordfish is incredible, the Texas mangrove snapper is mouthwatering, the four battered fried Icelandic haddock is indulgent, and the pan roasted Pacific baquetta grouper is fabulous. All of the market seafood options come with an herb salad, grilled lemon, and your choice of sauce. Be warned though, the price for each dish is priced between $26 and $32.

If you don’t want seafood, then the Niman Ranch beef tenderloin is quite mouthwatering ($43), or the cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and special sauce is also a great choice ($15). With a pretty lengthy and eclectic menu, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Fun and Friendly Outdoor Dining

The patio here is super cute, with striped beach umbrellas, wooden tables and benches, beach-style chairs, and decorative mini lights, the patio makes you feel as if you’re on a New England coast rather than in Texas, and sitting on it eating oysters or sipping on a cocktail is a perfect way to spend the evening.

Big Bar Menu

The bar here has just about everything imaginable, ranging from beers and wines to cocktails and other beverages. Try the 17 Stone cocktail, concocted from Citadelle Gin, Apricot Liquor, Orgeat, and lemon—for $11, it’s as tasty as it is strong. If it’s hot out and you need something refreshing, try the Grapefruit Sling with Citadelle gin, grapefruit, lemon, carpano antica, and grapefruit bitters, priced at $10.

Make Your Reservation Online

A reservation is highly recommended at Perla’s, and you may not be seated without one, especially if your group is large. Rumor has it though that the staff is so friendly that they’ll try to get you a table, and quickly too, even if you forget to call ahead. You can make your reservation online for convenience on Perla’s website, or you’re welcome to call them. Reservations should be made at least one day in advance, if not sooner. Other good to know information includes that this isn’t a restaurant that’s appropriate for kids, although you’ll only need casual attire here, despite the upscale ambiance and prices.
